About the game
Minesweeper is the legendary logic game that came with every computer. Mines are hidden under the board, and the numbers on the squares you open are your only clues to where they are. It is a game won with logic, not luck. There are three levels, Easy, Medium and Hard, and your best time is saved for each one. Play Minesweeper online free in your browser on desktop or mobile, no download needed.
How to play
- Reveal a square: Click or tap it. The first square you open is always safe.
- Numbers: A number tells you how many mines are in the 8 squares around it.
- Place a flag: Right-click on a computer, press and hold the square on a phone, or turn on 🚩 flag mode.
- Quick reveal: Tap a number whose flags are all in place and its other neighbours open at once.
- Win: Reveal every square that doesn't hide a mine!

Minesweeper tips
- The 1-1 pattern: When two 1s sit side by side along an edge, the square beyond the second 1 is usually safe.
- The 1-2-1 pattern: If you see 1-2-1 in a straight line, the mines are opposite the two outer 1s.
- Start at the corners: When you have little information, corner and edge squares are less risky.
- Use your flags: Flag the mines you are sure about and quick reveal will save you lots of time.
FAQ
What happens if I hit a mine? The game ends. Once per game you can watch a short ad to defuse that mine and keep going.
Does the hard level fit on a phone? Yes, when you hold your phone upright the hard board automatically turns vertical.
