About the game
Castle Defense is a strategy game where you stop wave after wave of enemy armies by building towers. Goblins, wolves, armored orcs, shield knights, giant bats and shadow thieves march along winding roads towards your castle. Build archer, cannon, wizard and frost towers or barracks on the spots beside the road, upgrade them, use your powers at just the right moment and make sure nobody gets through the gate.
From green vales to scorching deserts, snowy passes, misty marshes, a volcano and a dark citadel, there are 30 levels across 6 realms. Every realm ends with a giant boss: an ogre that stuns your soldiers with a ground slam, a sand pharaoh that raises skeletons, a frost giant that freezes your towers and more. Clear levels to collect stars, spend them on permanent upgrades and grow your hero. Once you have finished the campaign, see how long you can last in Endless mode and get your name on the leaderboard. No download: play free in your browser on phone, tablet or computer.
How to play
- Build: tap (or click) a glowing tower spot beside the road and pick a tower from the ring menu. On phones the first tap shows the tower's info and range, the second tap confirms.
- Upgrade and sell: tap a tower to upgrade it, sell it (you get 70% of the gold back) or change its targeting (first, last, strong, close). After level 3 each tower can take one of two specialisations.
- Hero: drag your hero, or select him and tap the map, to send him anywhere. He blocks the road, fights and uses his special abilities on his own.
- Powers: ☄️ Meteor Shower rains fiery rocks on the chosen area, ⚔️ Reinforcements drops helper soldiers on the road. Both have a cooldown.
- Waves and gold: you earn gold at the start of every wave and for every enemy you defeat. Call the next wave early for bonus gold.
- Lives and stars: every enemy that reaches the castle costs lives. Finish with 18+ lives for 3 stars, 10+ for 2 stars.
- Keyboard: 1-5 pick a tower, U upgrade, S sell, T targeting, Q meteors, W reinforcements, H hero, Space calls a wave, P pauses, F changes speed (1x/2x/3x).

Enemies and bosses
Goblin runners come in swarms and swift wolves try to slip past your soldiers. Armored orcs and shield knights shrug off arrows and cannonballs, so answer them with wizard towers, while shamans resist magic. Only archers and wizards can hit giant bats, and shadow thieves are revealed only in range of frost or wizard towers. Healers top up everyone around them, splitting slimes break in two when they die, skeletons rise again once and giant trolls keep regenerating and cost two lives.
The last level of every realm brings a giant boss: Gurzel the Ogre, the Sand Pharaoh, the Frost Giant, Bog King Croak, the Lava Golem that splits in two and Dark Lord Zalvar who teleports forward through shadows. Each one has its own special ability.

Castle Defense tips
- Hold the crossings: spots where two roads meet or the road bends keep enemies in range for much longer.
- Barracks plus cannon: soldiers bunch enemies up in one place and a cannon breaks up the crowd in a single shot. Put the rally point inside the cannon's range.
- Magic for armor, arrows for magic: have a wizard tower ready when knights and orcs arrive; against shamans, archers and cannons work better.
- Build frost early: slowed enemies stay in range of your other towers for longer. You also need frost or wizard towers to see shadow thieves.
- Call early, but not too early: if your defence is solid, call waves early for bonus gold; if a new enemy type is coming, take your time to prepare.
- Save your powers for the boss: dropping meteors and reinforcements together when the boss arrives turns hard levels around.
- Spend your stars: stuck on a level? Check the permanent upgrades: archer range, cannon damage or +60 starting gold make a big difference. You can reset them any time and try other branches.
FAQ
Is Castle Defense free? Yes, completely free. There is nothing to download; it runs in the browser on phones, tablets and computers.
Is my progress saved? Yes. Your cleared levels, stars, permanent upgrades and endless record are saved to your account, so you can pick up where you left off on any device.
How are points calculated? In the campaign, every new star earns (2 + realm number) points, a first clear earns +1 and a first boss clear +3. In Endless mode every 4 waves are worth 1 point and every wave beyond your record adds +1.
How does my hero get stronger? Your hero's level rises with your total stars. Lily the Ranger unlocks at 10 stars and Jade the Sorceress at 20.
I lost a level, what now? Once per level you can watch a short ad and carry on with +10 lives (that level then gives at most 1 star). A few times a day you can also watch an ad at the start of a level to begin with +200 gold.
