About the game

Rage Cube 2 is a troll platformer that looks like the easiest platform game ever made, right up until it pulls the rug out from under you. You walk and jump a cute orange cube with big expressive eyes, and your only job is to reach the EXIT door on the other side of the screen. The path is flat, the sky is blue, there is a single spike in the middle... and then the floor you are standing on collapses, the door hops onto a ledge out of reach, and spikes shoot out of the ground from nowhere. Those surprises are the whole point: every level is built to catch you off guard at least once.

There are 60 hand-made levels spread across five worlds: the sunny Meadow, the crystal-lit Cave, the buzzsaw-filled Factory, the slippery Ice Land and the lava-soaked Volcano. Each world introduces a new kind of trap and ends with a brutal twelfth "rage" level that throws everything at you. Expect collapsing floors, fake platforms, invisible blocks, spikes dropping from the ceiling, ceilings that come down when you jump, arrow-firing walls, closing gates, reversed controls, rooms where the lights go out, gravity-flipping switches and fake doors with an EXIT sign that try to eat you.

Don't worry, though: it plays fair. Every level behaves exactly the same on every attempt. The moment you die, the cube respawns at the start of the level and now you know where the trap is. On top of that, every level was played from start to finish by a computer solver before it went into the game, so each one is proven to be beatable. A little attention, some patience and plenty of "one more try" will get you through. All artwork and levels are original; play Rage Cube 2 online free in your browser or on your phone, no download needed.

How to play

  • On a computer: walk with โ† โ†’ or A D and jump with Space, โ†‘ or W. R restarts the level and Esc opens the level list.
  • On a phone: walk with the big โ—€ โ–ถ buttons at the bottom of the screen and jump with the JUMP button on the right. You can slide your thumb between the two arrow buttons.
  • Jumping: the longer you hold the button, the higher the cube goes. You can still jump for a split second after running off a ledge, and a jump pressed just before landing still counts, so the controls feel tight and responsive.
  • Goal: walk through the level's EXIT door. Touch spikes, lava, a saw or an arrow, or fall off the screen, and you die; the level restarts in 0.4 seconds.
  • Stars: clear a level with 0-2 deaths for โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…, 3-6 deaths for โ˜…โ˜…, more than that for โ˜…. Your deaths in the current level and in total are shown at the top.
  • Hints and skipping: stuck? Watch a short ad to see every trap in the level highlighted in red for a few seconds. After ten deaths you can also skip the level; a skipped level counts as cleared, just without stars.

Rage Cube 2 tips

  • Trust nothing: a suspiciously innocent flat path, a lonely platform or a sign that says "Solid โœ“" almost always means a trap is coming.
  • Watch before you run: falling ceilings and collapsing floors kick in a moment after they are triggered. Sometimes the best move is to stop and let the trap go off on its own.
  • Jump early: the spot right in front of the door, places where spikes pop up and crumbling floors are usually cleared by jumping one step sooner. A long press gives you the most distance.
  • Look for sparkles: tiny glints in empty space can mean an invisible block. Sometimes it bonks your head, sometimes it is the only way across.
  • Spot the fake door: fake doors have their handle on the wrong side and a tiny typo on their sign. A careful eye won't be fooled!
  • Every death is a lesson: each one teaches you a trap. If it gets to you, take a short break; you will often beat that "impossible" level on the first try when you come back.

FAQ

How is this different from Rage Cube? In the first game the cube runs by itself and you only time your jumps to the beat. Rage Cube 2 is a classic platformer: you control the cube's every step, and your real enemy is a long list of sneaky troll traps.
Can every level really be beaten? Yes. Each of the 60 levels was played through by a computer solver to make sure the exit can be reached. Because a level behaves the same way every time, it gets easier as you learn its traps.
How are points calculated? Clearing a level for the first time is worth 3 to 7 points depending on the world, and the twelfth "rage" level of each world gives 3 extra. Every new star adds 2 more points. The leaderboard shows your total points and how many levels you have cleared.
How do I unlock levels? Levels open in order: clear (or skip) one and the next unlocks. You can replay any cleared level at any time to earn more stars with fewer deaths.
Can I play on my phone? Yes. In portrait mode the play area sits at the top with big control buttons underneath; turn your phone sideways and the play area grows while the buttons move to the corners.
Is my progress saved? Yes, your cleared levels, stars and total deaths are saved to your account. Sign up and you can continue on any device.
