About the game
Mahjong solitaire is a calm, relaxing matching game: tiles are stacked in layers, and your job is to find free pairs and clear the whole board. Our version uses friendly tiles with fruits, animals and cheerful symbols instead of traditional characters, so anyone can pick it up in seconds. Choose one of four layouts (Pyramid, Fortress, Butterfly or Turtle), sit back and play Mahjong online for free, right in your browser.
How to play
- Tap two free tiles with the same picture and both are removed.
- A tile is free when no tile is on top of it and its left or right side is open.
- Locked tiles look slightly darker, so you can always see which tiles you can pick.
- Clear every tile to win. Every deal is generated to be solvable.
- Stuck? Undo a move, ask for a hint or shuffle the remaining tiles.

Mahjong tips
- Work from the top: clear the tiles on the highest layers and the ends of long rows first, so the tiles underneath open up.
- Think in fours: there can be four tiles with the same picture. If three are free, pick the two that are blocking the most other tiles.
- Don't rush: instead of grabbing the first pair you see, look at which tiles each match will set free.
- Watch the counter: the 🔗 number at the top shows how many matches are available. If it keeps dropping, slow down.
Frequently asked questions
Can every game be finished? Yes. Tiles are dealt by building the layout in reverse, so there is always at least one solution. You can still get stuck by playing in the wrong order; then undo or shuffle.
How are points calculated? You earn 10 (Pyramid), 15 (Fortress), 20 (Butterfly) or 25 (Turtle) points depending on the layout, plus a time bonus for finishing quickly.
How many hints and shuffles do I get? 3 free hints and 2 free shuffles per game. After that you can watch a short ad for 3 more hints and 1 more shuffle.
Is it free? Yes, Mahjong is completely free, with no download. It works on phones, tablets and computers.
