About the game
Hangman is the classic word-guessing game almost everyone remembers from school. You guess the letters of a secret word one at a time, and every wrong guess adds another piece to the stick figure on the gallows. Can you find the word before the drawing is complete? Our English version has more than 450 everyday words across 9 categories: animals, fruits & vegetables, countries, cities, jobs, sports, household items, nature, and food & drinks. Every word is family friendly, so it's a great pick for kids, classrooms and anyone brushing up on their English vocabulary.
How to play
- Tap a letter on the screen or type it on your keyboard.
- If the letter is in the word, it appears in every spot where it belongs and turns green.
- If not, another part of the hangman is drawn. Six wrong guesses and the game is over.
- Solve the word and a new one is ready. Get several right in a row to build your streak!
Scoring
Each solved word earns 5 points, plus 2 points for every life you have left, plus half the word's length. Solving long words with few mistakes pays the most. Words where you used a hint are worth a little less.

Tips
- Start with the most common letters in English: E, A, R, I, O, T, N and S.
- Use the category. Countries often end in "-IA" or "-LAND", and many jobs end in "-ER" or "-IST".
- Look at the length of the word. In short words, vowels matter even more.
- A space means the answer is two words, like "ICE CREAM" or "NEW YORK".

Is Hangman free? Yes, completely free. Create a free account to save your points and streak to the leaderboard.
How many wrong guesses do I get? Six. The sixth wrong guess completes the drawing and the word is revealed.
Can I play in Turkish too? Yes. Switch the site language to Turkish to play with Turkish words and letters.
