About the game

A dolmuş is the shared minibus you find all over Turkey: it runs a fixed route, but instead of waiting at bus stops it stops for anyone who waves from the pavement and lets people off wherever they call out. The name literally means “stuffed”, because traditionally it only leaves once it is full. Minibus Driver puts you behind the wheel of one. You drive a white-and-navy dolmuş through hand-drawn, top-down city streets, pick up waving passengers, drop them off when they shout “Stop here!” and work out their change while traffic piles up behind you.

It is part driving game, part small-business sim. More passengers means more fares, but once the seats are full every standing rider is a risk at a police check. Driving fast earns tips, while slamming the brakes sends the standing passengers flying. Hand back the wrong change and your happiness rating takes a hit; give it back quickly and correctly and the tips roll in. At the end of every trip you see what you really earned after fines, repairs and fuel.

There are 30 routes across Istanbul's Asian and European sides, Ankara and Izmir, from a short, quiet hop between Kadıköy and Moda to a long night run from Taksim to Kadıköy across the bridge. Along the way you'll meet the school rush, aunties coming home from the market with bags full of tomatoes, crowded stops in the rain, ferries gliding past the coast road and a watermelon van that pulls out right in front of you. Play Minibus Driver online free in your browser on a phone, tablet or computer, with no download and no sign-up required.

How to play

  • On a phone: hold the green GAS pedal on the right and the red BRAKE pedal on the left. The ◀ ▶ buttons change lanes and 📯 sounds the horn. You can also swipe left or right to change lanes.
  • On a computer: ↑ / W to accelerate, ↓ / S to brake, ← → to change lanes and Space for the horn. You don't steer: the dolmuş follows the curves of the route on its own.
  • To pick someone up, come to a full stop in the right lane next to anyone waving ✋. The door slides open and they climb in one by one.
  • Giving change: the passenger tells you the fare and hands over a note. Subtract the fare from what they paid, tap the coins and notes to count out the difference, then press Hand over. On a keyboard, keys 1-7 pick the money and Enter hands it over.
  • When a passenger calls “Stop here!”, let them off within a few seconds. The door won't open on a zebra crossing or in a junction, so pull over by the kerb a little further on.
  • Everyone gets off at the last stop and you see the trip summary: fares + tips − fines − repairs − fuel. Hit the target and earn at least one star to unlock the next route.

Change-giving and driving tips

  • Count down from the big notes: for a 38 lira fare paid with a 100, you owe 62 back. Take a 50, then a 10, then two 1 lira coins. Working from largest to smallest is both quick and mistake-proof.
  • Speed pays: get the change right within about three seconds and the passenger leaves a tip. If you miscount, tap a coin in the tray to take it back. Fixing it before you press “Hand over” costs nothing.
  • Overpaying hurts too: most passengers will quietly pocket anything extra, and short-changing them makes them unhappy. If you're not sure, take one more second.
  • Stay in the right lane: passengers always wait on the right-hand pavement. Only use the left lane to get past a bus, a parked van or a slow car.
  • Slow down early: lift off the gas as soon as you spot someone waving. A last-second emergency stop knocks standing riders over and makes the seated ones grumble.
  • Don't push your luck on amber: running a red gets you caught on camera and the fine comes straight out of your takings. If someone is on a zebra crossing, always stop.
  • Use the garage: air conditioning makes passengers more patient, extra seats cut down on standing riders and better brakes shorten your stopping distance. Think about those before you spend the till on a new paint job.

FAQ

Is Minibus Driver free? Yes, completely free with nothing to download. It runs in the browser on phones and computers alike.
Is my progress saved? Your cleared routes, stars, till money and garage upgrades are saved to your account, so you can carry on from another device.
How are points calculated? Clearing a route for the first time gives 2 points (plus 1 bonus every 10 routes) and every new star adds 1 more. The leaderboard also shows your best single-trip earnings.
How do I earn stars? Stars depend on passenger happiness at the end of the trip: over 30% for one star, over 60% for two and over 85% for three. Dropping people off on time, giving the right change and driving smoothly all help.
What happens if the dolmuş breaks down? If damage hits 100%, the tank runs dry or the passengers revolt, the trip is cut short. Once per trip you can watch a short ad to carry on where you left off, and after a successful trip you can watch one to double the money that goes into the till.
