About the game
Number Guess is a free logic game where you crack the computer's secret number using plus and minus clues. It is the classic pen-and-paper code-breaking game (also known as Bulls and Cows): every digit in the secret number is different, and it never starts with 0. After each guess you learn how many digits are in the right place and how many are in the number but in the wrong place. Combine the clues and find the number in as few guesses as you can.
The first levels warm you up with 3-digit numbers, then come 4-digit numbers and, after level 40, 5-digit ones. The Daily Number is the same for everyone, so you can compete with friends and copy your result to share it in one tap. No sign-up needed, just play.
How to play
- Enter a guess: type a number with all different digits on the keypad and press "Guess". On a computer you can type and press Enter.
- + right place: a digit of your guess is in the secret number, in the same position.
- − wrong place: a digit of your guess is in the secret number, but somewhere else.
- Example: if the secret is 4271 and you guess 1234, the clue is +1 −2: 2 is in place; 1 and 4 are in it but elsewhere.
- Take notes: tap a digit in the notes strip once for ✗ (not in it) and twice for ✓ (in it). The keys change colour too.
- Pause: tap the ⏸ button at the top or press P / Esc. The game pauses by itself when you switch tabs.
Power-ups
- 💡 Hint: reveals one digit of the secret number in its place.
- 🚫 Eliminate: crosses out two digits that are not in the number.
Clearing levels with 3 stars and opening the chest every 5 levels gives you more power-ups.
Scoring and stars
The fewer guesses you need, the more stars you get: crack a 4-digit number in 6 guesses or fewer for 3 stars. Your points depend on the level and your stars, and the Daily Number gives a +25 bonus. If you run out of guesses, watch a short ad for 3 more, or double your points at the end of a level. Sign up for free to keep your points and join the leaderboard.

Tips
- Find the digits first: use guesses with no repeated digits at the start (like 1234 and 5678) to learn quickly which digits are in the number.
- Then find the places: once you know the digits, move them around and watch how the + count changes.
- A "0" clue is gold: if you get no + and no −, every digit of that guess is out. The game crosses them out in your notes for you.
- Use the notes: don't keep it all in your head. Mark the sure ones ✓ and the missing ones ✗.
